If any of your schools are like mine you have a set number of copies you can use per month. Well today is the 30th and I am already out! Sometimes I can go through the month and still have tons left and some months I don't have any left. Well today is Monday and homework has to go home and I was all out! Our HW is 3 pages for the week and I was missing 1 page. They do spiral review and have different problems for each day. SO I had to send this home TODAY!
What is a girl to do?
a. send a note home saying the copier is broken
b. beg everyone I know for copies and hope I can get a class set
c. pray that my trusty iphone has an answer!
Well the answer today was C! I was chatting with my friend Melissa about my situation and she said..."You could always scan it and print it on your printer."
DING DING DING The bells went off in my head! I have an app on my phone that I use for business. ( I am a graphic designer) It allows me to scan documents and email them or fax them from my phone. I LOVE this app and never thought it would be of any use to me in the classroom. The app is called Scanner Pro it is 6.99 but worth every penny and cheaper than a scanner.
SO I got to work and one minute later, I was done! All I had to do was take a picture of the document with my phone and my phone scanned it and turned it into a PDF document. I emailed it to myself and printed it right out on my computer!
YEAA!!!! I did it! My phone saved the day and all of my students got their homework today! See the actual document on the left and my scanned document from my phone on the right. Flawless!
Do you have a useful app that helps you in the classroom? Please share below!

I love my iphone, but finally this year I have working technology so I use my school computer for most of the time at work. But of course I use it for weather (for recess duties) I have alarms to remind me who needs to do the announcements, camera + for pictures, and I can print to my personal ink jet on my desk from there too. On my home and work I love http://www.web2pdfconvert.com/ (it converts websites to pdf) and primo pdf (makes anything into a pdf) I am going to check out your app never know when I might need it! Thanks for sharing :)

WOW you have a limit on copies???....I guess I should appreciate the little things. That's a little crazy. "I'm sorry Mr. Principal, I don't give HW anymore because I'm out of copies"...hmm I don't get it.
ReplyDeleteAnyway moving on-that's so 21st century of you and I love it!

That is so cool!!! I HATE, HATE, HATE copy limits! I've worked at both school that have them and do not have them, and I must say those that don't are awesome. Ha. At my last school we had a yearly limit and only ONE copier for the entire school to use, and it messed up all the time by the way. Anyway, I did fine on copies until the last month of school. I ran out of copies with several weeks left! I had to borrow some copies from others, and needles to say, it was such a hassle. I wish I had known about this app! Thanks so much for sharing! As for an app I use, I don't really have one I use in the class, but I use the stop-watch on my iPhone all the time with my kiddos. :-)
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I tagged you in a Blog Tag. Visit my post about it: You've Been Tagged!

Yes, I so love that app. I just purchased it recently and have used it everyday so far. I use it mostly to scan poetry into Edmodo for students to comment on.

ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea!!! Our school is running out of money so they just lowered our copies from 1700 a month to 1300 a month. I know I'm going to need this app! Thanks so much =)
