In social studies we have been talking about Lewis and Clark and Sacagawea. I got this great printable from Scholastic. We had been learning about her all week and the students were to write stories about her life. It so funny because the main thing that the children always remember about her is that she carried a baby on her back. lol They seem to love that part!
We are also starting to work on ABC order and dictionary skills. This is my students most favorite center! Kung Fu Critters! The students put the words in ABC according to the different categories and characters. These words are only to the first letter so that they can get the basics mastered.
Next we are working on dictionary skills. The students have to match the puppies to the correct doghouses with the correct guide words on them. We pretty much work on dictionary skills all year long. Those guide words always confuse them so this was excellent practice and the kids really caught on quickly.
