Easi-Speak Digital Microphone Giveaway!

I was contacted by Learning Resources to do some product reviews and I was very interested to see what products they were offering. I do not like to promote any product that I feel is not actually beneficial to learning in my classroom. I often turn down offers from several companies if I feel I would not actually use it. I was really interested in this one though.

One of the products was the easi-speak microphone. At first glance I thought this may not be something that my kids would actually be able to use independently and actually get work done! lol Boy, was I wrong! I took the product out of the box and it was very simple to use and put together. It was ready to use right out of the box! I did not have to charge it or anything and the best part is it does not take batteries!! All you have to do is hook it up to your computer if you need a quick charge!
There is a little USB attachment encased in the bottom of it.

The buttons are color coded and easy to see, even my ESL students can use it. So I immediately put this puppy in my buddy reading center.  In this center students must partner read each page and they must record the books that they have read on the buddy reading log so that I can keep track of the work being done.

I will also provide graphic organizers and comprehension activities in this center or they can pick one of their choice from the reading comp binder. I put them all in sheet protectors.
The kids didn't need any training on it at all. The red and green buttons were easy to use! While one partner read the other listened and then they switched. They read into the microphone and then they  played the story back to listen to what and how they read. The students were able to point out words that they made mistakes on and gain a deeper understanding of the story.

The files can even be quickly downloaded to your computer and emailed to parents or teachers! It is excellent data for SST and IEP meetings also. They were also able to complete their graphic organizers with no problem!

This microphone could be used in many ways not just in reading centers. I read a story into it with my kindergarten son and he uses it to play back before bed or to read along with it to figure out tricky words. The microphone hold up to 4 hours of audio! He also decided to put on a show and dance and pretend he was Michael Jackson but I won't get into that part! BUT I can also download it and send it out to family! lol

I am so excited to test it out and find even more new ways to use it! I will keep you updated!

Now it is your turn, you can win one of these great microphones for your classroom! Just leave your email below! I will pick a winner on Monday night at 9pm.

You can check out this microphone here!
Be sure to follow Learning Resources on Facebook and check them out on youtube!

  20. I guess I need more followers before anybody will ask me to test something cool like this - I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! I can totally see using it in a center like you did - or I could see if a little one finished something early handing them some sight word flash cards or addition/subraction flash cards and have them read them into the microphone. That way I can check their accuracy later. You could even do the same with a cold read - have the kiddo find a quiet spot {could be tricky - HA!} read the new book into the microphone and then I could do a running record later...

I need one of these - bad!

  39. This year I have been trying to assist my kiddos with monitoring their own fluency as they read. To do this, I have tried using the FLIP cameras my school has available to check out in our library. The difficulty I have encountered with this (besides having a limited supply of cameras that are often checked out by other teachers) is that students often get distracted by the way they look as they read instead of focusing in on the sound of their reading. This product seems like a perfect solution to this problem. Thank you so much for sharing this review. I would LOVE to try this in my classroom!!

I still have the old-fashion microphone that you have to tune into a certain radio frequency to use! In 1967, my teacher made a microphone using a glittered styrofoam ball glued to the top of a wooden dowel. We'd do anything for a chance to "talk" into it! Good luck all!
