Homework Linky Party- Share your Homework ideas!

After my post about my scanner app that I used for my homework I received several questions about how I do homework. I wanted to make sure I answered all of your questions in a post. We send home a language arts sheet, math sheet and spelling sheet. The spelling homework we got from a resource book. The LA and Math sheets my entire grade level came together and made a whole year's worth one year. It was awesome because we don't have to worry about it now.  I cannot sell these or send them out because it wass a collaborative group task so I don't own them. Sorry guys! But I will show you how we set them up!

The homework is a spiral review which I love because the students are hitting several subjects a week and constantly reviewing. I have seen homework like this on the internet so I think it would be easy to find some samples. We just made our own because we wanted to make sure it hit all of our specific standards or (AKS as we call them). There are 6 different areas that we focus on weekly and some of them change depending on what we are working on at the time. Fluency never changes because that is their nightly 15 minute reading assignment that they are required to do every night. This is the same book that we use in guided reading groups that day in class. There is also a writing assignment that they have to complete and they go through different steps daily like editing etc. We send the homework home on Monday and the students return it on Friday. I love it because it gives the students  a chance to learn new skills and practice old skills also. How do you do your homework? Link up or post below! Thanks!

  1. Oh Boy! I sure do wish you could sell that spiral of homework. It seems meaningful and I'm sure it doesn't take children a super long time to complete. It sounds like you have a great team that works well together. That always helps. I appreciate you sharing and will try, with my limited tech. skills to come up with something that matches. I teach a 1/2 combo. in California. Thanks again for sharing!

  6. I have a general rule that Monday is reading, Tuesday is math, Wednesday is vocabulary, and Thursday is spelling. No homework on Friday!

A lot of teachers at my school love homework packets, but for me, it's just another way to let grading pile up (and I can't handle that :)

  10. Fantastic! Thanks for this. My team does a grade level homework project every week to be turned in on Friday. Having some of these in the back pocket isn't so bad either.
