Word walls are something almost every teacher has! I see all different kinds and I see teachers use them in different ways. My word wall has gotten smaller and smaller each year! It now lies above my dry erase board. The words stick to the wall going up. That is my center board shown and the word wall is at the top. I use color coded words printed on cardstock.
I used to have the letters lined up on the bottom of my dry erase board and all of the words had magnets on them so I could pull them up on the board as I taught. This was a great set up too. I am always looking for new ways to incorporate word wall/spelling activities. Currently I use graphic organizers in my centers to help them practice their words. I blew this up on the poster machine to make a poster. You can download the template here.
We also play word wall Kung fu where we karate chop, punch, and kick our tall, fall, and small letters. We do that primarily in the beginning of the year. What are some things that you do with your spelling words/word wall words? Please join my linky party! Be sure to include or mention the activities that you use with your word wall or spelling words!
1. Add a link to your direct post and not your blog.
2. Add my link from this post and mention this linky party.
Thank you so much for participating!

Love your new look! =)

ReplyDeleteThanks guys!
ReplyDeleteI love the word walk Kung Fu idea! My class will absolutely love it! Do you always chop the tall letters, punch the small, and kick the fall letters or do you mix it up?
