I hope that everyone had an awesome Thanksgiving! I have been working hard on a great pack that I am eager to share with you. This graphing pack is a necessity in the classroom and can be done independently. What I usually do is introduce the graph on Monday. The kids can do this during morning work or some other specified time. I cut out the picture squares and post the question of the day in my pocket chart or on chart paper after I explain. I add the colorful header cards at the bottom. There are also black and white versions of everything for those that are limited on color ink. The students make their choice, color their square, and place it on the correct spot on the graph. Once the entire class has finished, you have your pictograph ready. You can also do this task in small groups if you do not wish to do it whole group.
Next, I put the comprehension sheets in my math work stations. My groups rotate 1 per day so it takes a full week for the entire class to finish that activity. There are 2 leveled options for each graph so that you can meet each students needs. After they complete the sheets you can go over it at the end of the week and discuss or you can take it for a grade. There is a graphing activity for every week of the school year!
