About Me

This blog is my lesson plan, it shows the love for my students and my passion for expanding their minds every single day in the most effective ways!

I love making centers, activities, and games for my students to enjoy! I am a first grade teacher and it is a very fun and rewarding job. I have been teaching 1st grade for 3 years and I love every minute of it. Hopefully my blog will provide you with resources and ideas for you to use in your own classrooms and you will enjoy using them as much as I enjoy making them!

A little bit about how I run my classroom...

We do guided math and guided reading at my school so the majority of my day is CENTERS!! The centers must be meaningful and purposeful so that the kids understand and are able to do them independently. They must also have fun doing it! Being an art major, I love hands on activities. I do partner centers for LA and my math center groups are ability grouped made up of about 4-5 kids. I only have a teacher assistant during guided reading and I may not have that next year. (BUDGET CUTS! arrggh!)

We follow a specific pacing calendar so I am unable to use all of the great units and themes I see everywhere. (Which I hate because they are so darn cute!) I still purchase though and pull some activities from them depending on what we are working on at the time. We MUST teach certain things at certain times so that is why I gear my products towards standard or (AKS as we call it) as you can see from my past items. Hey it works because because my students are high achievers and wonderful writers! ( I am a stickler for teaching writing- BOOTCAMP!)

This allows you to use any of my products with your existing plans or just use them as supplemental material. I love mini-units and activity packs and games (as you can see) because they are easy to just add to your existing plans. I will post several units for you guys, but they will be based by standard not themes. So everything in that unit will carry over into every subject area BUT will be all about nouns or whatever the topic is for that time. This allows you to use any part of the unit all at once or as you need them. So no matter how your instructional calendar is set up you can use it. More to come! Enjoy and thanks for all of the great feedback! I love my followers! - Jenaya
